Athletics

The sports programs are administered by Catholic Youth Sports.  There are two levels of competition available:

  • Grade School (GS) for students in grades K-4

  • Middle School (MS) for students in grades 6-8

Students in grade 5 need to check the Catholic Youth Sports websites as depending on the sport, the fifth grade plays with either the Grade School division or the Middle School division. Before students can play on a Saint Joseph School sports team, families must review and sign the Diocese of Orlando’s Concussion and Heat-related Liability Release.

Saint Joseph offers co-ed sports through the Catholic Youth Sports of Brevard. Children can choose to participate in: Soccer, Track, Flag Football and Basketball. These sports are offered to all students in elementary school in grades K through 5 and to middle school students in grades 6 through 8 (sometimes grade 5) and take place throughout the school year. Sportsmanship and Ethical Conduct

Interscholastic athletic programs must encourage good character, enhance the integrity of education and promote civility in society. Student-athletes, coaches and all others associated with interscholastic athletic programs, as well as those who attend interscholastic athletic events, should adhere to the fundamental values of honesty, integrity, respect, caring, cooperation, trustworthiness, leadership, tolerance and personal responsibility. Catholic Youth Sports requires that each parent and player agrees to their Code of Conduct.

Volunteer Coaches

All coaches at Saint Joseph Catholic School are volunteers. In order to be a volunteer coach individuals must be fingerprinted through the Diocese of Orlando, must take the Safe Environment Training course. Once complete, these clearances are valid for 5 years. Click here for procedures on getting a fingerprint clearance. In addition, each coach must take a short on-line course to become concussion certified. Review the Code of Conduct from Catholic Youth Sports by clicking below.
