Academics & Programs

St. Joseph Catholic School is a school under the auspices of the Diocese of Orlando for children in grades PreKindergarten-8th grade.

St. Joseph Catholic School’s educational programs are based on the rigorous curriculum and standards developed by the Diocese of Orlando.  We integrate a blended model of standards that are first and always filtered through our Faith and Catholic doctrine.  We utilize the Diocesan Standard for Faith Formation for Religion; the Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts and Mathematics; and the Florida Next Generation Sunshine State Standards for all other content areas.  Staff members analyze and synthesize curriculum materials, professional journals, and online resources to ensure Diocesan standards are successfully met now and to create a challenging and rewarding curriculum.  To view links to our standards and curriculum, click here.

Faith Formation

photo48At Saint Joseph Catholic School, faith formation is the cornerstone upon which our students learn to become lifelong learners and followers of Jesus Christ. All students take religion classes daily and attend mass weekly. Our curriculum is designed to encompass students’ understanding of God’s role in their lives and knowledge of the Catholic teachings through daily prayer, planning of weekly liturgy, sacramental preparation, and the reenactment of The Last Supper and Stations of the Cross. Our students, from a very young age, are committed to Christian service. They participate in activities such as Make a Difference Day, OXFAM, nursing home visits, and collection of food for the Saint Vincent de Paul Society.

Students at Saint Joseph Catholic School have access to laptop computers on our wireless computer carts (Computers on Wheels, also known as our COW) to utilize online resources, and utilize internet applications such as GLOGs and Prezis. Most classrooms are equipped with SMART Board technology including document cameras which has expanded our curriculum beyond what a traditional textbook offers.
